Today was the Little Monster’s one-month birthday. In Asian cultures, the mom and baby are supposed to stay home for one month after the birth. In fact, the mom isn’t supposed to leave her bed. She is supposed to eat only chicken and ginger and not bathe for 30 days. (You can only sponge-bath yourself with ginger water.)

Thank goodness I didn’t have to follow any of that. (Did have to sneak a few trips out to Superstore and Wal-Mart.) However, we did celebrate her one-month birthday.

We invited the family and extended family over for a huge feast, complete with entire roast pig (yum…). Elle was showered with gifts and red pockets of lucky money. It was an great day, albeit exhausting (for her and for us).
